Your mortgage with us

Step 1: Go through the fact-finding exercise and get approved in principle (AIP)

During the fact-finding process, we will gather information about your income, assets, expenses, and any outstanding debts. We will also discuss your goals, preferences, and future plans to get a clear picture of what you need from your mortgage. This information will help us reccomend the most suitable mortgage for you.

Once we have a clear understanding of your financial situation and your mortgage requirements, we will move on to approval in principle. This involves getting a conditional approval from a lender who is most suitable. Based on the information we have gathered during the fact-finding process, we will always confirm this lender remains the most suitable at the point of any formal application. This is an important step, as it gives you an indication of how much you can borrow, and the types of properties that are within your price range.

Step 2: Apply for a mortgage and complete the loan processing

To apply for a mortgage, we will work with you to complete the necessary application forms provide the mortgage advice and collect all the required documentation. This includes verifying your income, employment, and assets. We will also review your credit report and ensure that all the necessary details are disclosed to the lender.

At this point, we can confirm all known costs for the mortgage including; the final terms of the loan, including the interest rate, payment scheule and any other fees or charges associated with the loan.

Once your application has been submitted,  it will be reviewed and the lender will instruct a valuation of the property. Following satisfactory credit assessment by the lender and a satisfactory valuation being undertaken, the lender will then issue your mortgage offer. You will then need to review and sign the mortgage offer.

Once all the paperwork is complete, we will work with the lender and appointed solicitor to progress the case to completion. This typically involves completing a series of legal and administrative tasks. The loan processing stage can take several weeks, and it is important to work closely with you and your solicitor throughout the process to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Overall, the underwriting process and closing stage can be complex and time consuming, but with the help of an experienced mortgage advisor, you can navigate the process with confidence and secure the financing you need to purchase your dream home.

Meet Andrew

Andrew has worked in financial services since 2001, initially working within the National Australia Banking Group for fourteen years, working in a variety of roles around business and private banking. In 2015, he joined Handelsbanken before becoming a Mortgage & Protection Broker in 2019 with Tudor Financial Consultants.

In 2023, Andrew joined the team at Hallcroft to establish the regulated lending side of the business, aiming to complement the existing offering that Hallcroft offers and bring a new dimension to the organisation.

Outside of Hallcroft, Andrew’s kept busy with his family. Being the father of two girls, he maybe doesn’t get to watch as much football as he would like, although being a Barnsley fan, that isn’t always a bad thing!
